Mr. Brunel visited us today!
Key stage 1 had a very special visitor! Isambard Kingdom Brunel (Steve Manning) came to tell us about his many achievements as one of this country’s greatest engineers. The day was very inspiring and the children did us proud by demonstrating that they know an enormous amount about him already. Thanks must go to Mrs. Donaldson for her hard work in organising this important event.
This week we have continued practising our fixing skills so that we can make the best shoes ever! This included sewing which was really tricky. We also tried out a shoe template in paper.
This week we have been practising the skills we will need when we make our shoes. We did some stapling, sewing and lacing. We’re much better at it now!
In Maths we have been learning to use our bonds when adding and subtracting larger numbers. We found this quite tricky but were up for the challenge! Mistakes are good – it’s learning! Try these games to help sharpen skills:
We had a great visit to the pantomime to start our topic. Izzy was brave enough to go up on the stage and did a wonderful job. We’ve started researching into how to make shoes and testing out materials. In Maths we have been looking at fractions and adding more than one number. We made up a story about some magic flip-flops! A very busy week! http://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/7-11-years/fractions-and-decimals
